Introduction

  Because of doubts about the origin of life from non-living things or doubts about the viability of evolution, many people are now promoting aliens as the source of life on earth.

From a non-Christian view

1. Where did the idea that there are aliens arise?

Scientists thought that if evolution happened on earth, then it should have also happened on other planets.

If we now doubt evolution, shouldn’t we also now doubt the existence of aliens?

Don’t aliens only make us ask the question: where did these aliens come from? What is the original source of all life?

 

2. America has spent billions of dollars over at least 50 years listening for alien life with no significant uncontroversial results.

For example, “an unexplained pulsed radio signal, thought to be artificial in 1967, turned out to be the first ever sighting of a pulsar.”

Shouldn’t aliens, if they have given us life, want to talk to us?

 

3. Out of billions and billions of galaxies, scientists believe there are only a few hundred thousand possibly inhabitable planets. The earth is rare in many ways. The true number of possibly inhabitable planets may be far less than scientists think.

E. The larger planets that are outside the earth

F. The moon which stabilizes the earth’s rotation

4. One scientist’s conclusion was this: Either the universe is eternal or there is an eternal being that made the universe.

 

From what the Eternal, Christian God says or implies

1. The earth was especially created to be inhabitable (Isaiah 45:18). God doesn’t say this about any other planet in the universe. It seems that the universe was created for other reasons (Genesis 1:14-18).

 

2. God created humans in His image (Genesis 1:26-27). God doesn’t say that He created any other man-like creatures other than maybe the angels.

3. Aliens pose many theological problems. Did the aliens, if they exist, fall when Adam and Eve sinned like the rest of the universe? How could they be accountable for what Adam did? (Romans 8:20-22 -- the whole creation fell).

 

Can aliens, if they exist, be saved? God’s son became a human, not an alien. He died to save mankind, not aliens. The fallen angels cannot be saved.
